Valentine’s cake decorating competition raises money for charity
The Valentine’s themed cake baking competition and cake sale that was held in The Magdalen Centre on 9 February 2017, raised an impressive £325 for MHA, which cares for vulnerable older people of all faiths and none.
Heather Wells from Circassia, based in Northbrook House, organised the competition as part of her journey to the London Marathon 2017.
The judge was Kathryn Dawson, a very skilled chef and baker from the Eyston Arms Pub in East Hendred.
First prize was awarded to Rachel Melville with her Red Rose Bouquet, who won afternoon tea at the Randolph Hotel
Second prize went to Helen Kirkby with her Simple Celebration
Third prize went to Lyndsey Atkins with her Rose, Strawberry and Prosecco cake
Heather said: “Kathryn had a tough time choosing a winner as all the cakes used some very difficult technical skills and had been well thought out. Thank you to those people who entered and bought the cakes to help raise money for MHA.”
